Designing Teen-Friendly Spaces

Designing your teen’s bedroom and organizing their closet can feel like a daunting task. I know first hand because I have two teenagers of my own! You have to think about storage options, organization, and space planning, but most importantly, you want it to feel like home for your teenager. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With the right prep and communication with your teen, you can create a room that’s both aesthetically pleasing and functional! My daughter and I are both big fans of the trendy Wes Anderson aesthetic, so we’re pumped to get started!

DESIGN PROCESS
I’m here to help you through the process and share some tips for designing a bedroom and organizing a closet with your teenager.

The first step in creating the perfect bedroom is identifying what your teen wants. Involving them in the decision-making process can make them feel more empowered and proud of their space, which will encourage them to keep it tidy. Ask questions such as their favorite colors, interests or hobbies, and provide some options for furniture.

Let’s take action as a team and get things in order. The second step to getting organized is doing it together! Encourage your teen to declutter their belongings and sort through what they need and want to keep more easily. This will make finding items in the closet much simpler when it comes to getting ready or preparing for school.
